ROTDOW trains 650 health workers on effective delivery of Vitamin A, Albendazole and Multiple Micronutrient Supplements

In order to record more successes in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW), Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood (ROTDOW) in partnership with Vitamin Angels trained 650 health workers across all the Public Health Centers in Ondo State for more effective delivery of Vitamin A, Albendazole and Multiple Micronutrient Supplements.

The 3 day training was conducted in all the eighteen local governments of the State with the supervision of State Nutrition team.

The CEO of ROTDOW, Mrs Olabisi Omolona in her words said “amazing things happen when we unite to nourish the health of every mother, every child, everywhere”

“Our focus is to reach communities that are underserved. Mother’s and Children are the soul of the community, it’s health and future depends on them. During pregnancy even the healthiest diet may not supply all the nutrients a mother and baby need. Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) is a critical intervention that can safely and effectively improve maternal health and birth outcomes.

Receiving bi- annual doses of Vitamin A in early childhood protects vision, immunity, and supports physical development. Adding Albendazole, an anti parasitic, ensures optional absorption of nutrients. Vitamin A and Deworming protect a child’s vision, and promote a lifeline of health”,-she added.

The health nutrition team trained the participants on NUT/GMP data tools.

Giving her remarks, ROTDOW team lead, Mrs. Omolona while appreciating the Ondo State government, for giving an enabling environment to operate also thanked the Ministry of Health and Primary HealthCare Agency for the robust partnership it has been enjoying over the years.

Responding, one of the participants from Odigbo local government while appreciating Vitamin Angels and ROTDOW said they will also step down the training to others in their various centers.

She further noted that the health workers have been equipped to safely administer the drugs to the children and to sanitize their hands after attending to individual children.
