In commemoration of the World Malaria Day tagged: Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives. The Primary Health Care Board Ondo State organised a program in Akure, Ondo State to celebrate the day. It was stated, malaria is a preventable and treatable disease that continues to have a devastating impact on the health and livelihood of people around the world. In 2020, there were an estimated 241 million new cases of malaria and 627 000 malaria-related deaths in 85 countries.
The ultimate goal of the program is to reduce the number of people who are catching and dying of malaria. This requires a focus on research and leveraging on available evidence to ensure that our targeted interventions have efficient use of resources to produce measurable results.
The CEO, Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood Mrs. Olabisi Omolona explained the use of Long Lasting Insecticide Net (LLIN) to the participants to Eliminate malaria.

Mrs Akinlalu the Focal Person on Malaria, PHC board during her speech listed the new innmovation which include the use of Sulphadoxine-Pyrimethamine (SP) from 13weeks of Pregnancy, Early registration of pregnant women to Basic Health Center for checkup and management to detect early signs and symptoms of malaria,doing of test before treatment and sleeping under Long Lasting Insecticide Nets and proper tiding of environment and proper hygiene.
