BPW Inaugurates New Exco, Distributes Educational Materials To 100 Students Across 15 top schools

 

Business & Professional Women Nigeria Akure Club ( BPW) on Thursday, 20th January, 2022 inaugurated members of the new state executives that will run the affairs of the club for the next 3 years at an event held at BPW House, Alagbaka, Akure.

The new state executive is led by Pastor Mrs. Grace Adeniseun as President and Mrs Olabisi Omolona as Vice President, Project among others.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Mrs. Adeniseun while thanking all for honouring the invitation called for support to achieve set goals.

While applauding the giant strides of the outgoing state executive, Mrs. Adeniseun assured the people that her team is ready to make more impact to better the lives of women and the society at large.

The Special Adviser to Mr. Governor, Chief Mrs. Olamide Falana while congratulating members of the club for their impact, assured them that she will continue to support in all ways possible stressing that the club no doubt has been doing a marvelous job.

In her remarks, the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Mrs. Bunmi Osadahun while acknowledging the good work by the club said her ministry will continue to support initiatives that is geared towards uplifting women in the state.

While emphasizing the importance of education, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Femi Agagu thanked the club for supporting educational initiative through the distribution of educational materials.

He also urged beneficiaries to make the most use of the materials by studying hard and excelling in life.

In his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, SUBEB, Mr. Akinagbe Akinbamidele while thanking BPW for deeming it fit to extend hands of fellowship to school students, said the good gesture will go a long way in encouraging the students to attend classes promptly..

The event also featured a presentation by BPW Project Coordinator, Mrs. Olabisi Omolona who said despite government effort to ease the pain of parents by making education affordable, some parents cannot afford the cost as some school in the name of lesson and PTA levels, make education unaccessible to some students.

Mrs. Omolona while assuring the people that BPW will continue to give empowerment also to women, said parameters have been put in place to monitor beneficiaries as the essence of the distribution is to aid their studies.

The climax of the event was the distribution of packs of exercise books to about 100 students in attendance.

Also in attendance included WOWICAN Chairperson, Deaconess Grace Ademokoya, HANDEF representative, other members of civil societies, Non Governmental Organizations, Christian and Muslim bodies among others.
